AGM and Mayor Making
We are pleased to advise that at our Annual General Meeting of the Town Council on 10th May 2022 Councillor Richard Levell was elected Town Mayor for the 2022/23 Civic Year. Cllr Levell's consort for his Mayoral year will be Mayoress Cllr Magdalena Levell.
"It is a great honour to be re-elected as Mayor of Raunds for the civic year 2022/23. Now that things are getting 'back to normal' following the pandemic, it should be an exciting year for the residents of Raunds, and I am very pleased to be able to contribute to this. I will be holding several charity fund-raising events for my chosen charities for the year - the Raunds Foodbank and the East Northants First Responders, and I hope that these will be well-supported to raise money for these services which are vital for our local community". Armed Forces Day 2021
The people of Raunds and Raunds Town Council have always supported the Armed Forces. Raunds Mayor, Cllr Sylvia Hughes was joined on the steps of the Town Hall by Royal British Legion representative Nick Fall, members of the local churches, children and teachers from Windmill Primary, Raunds Park Infants, St Peters CE Academy, Manor School and Town Councillors. Armed Forces Day is a a National occasion for us to show our support for the Armed Forces for the outstanding work that they do for our country. The Armed Forces community includes the Royal Navy, the Army, the Royal Air Force, Reservists, Veterans, Cadets and the wider Armed Forces family in society. Showing support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale boost for the service personnel and their families. We in Raunds have a strong tradition of showing such support and respect for our Armed Forces. most especially we thank and honour those service personnel from our own town who do such vital work to keep us all safe. So on behalf of the people of Raunds we are proud to raise the flag in honour of our Armed Forces.


McDonalds Love Where You Llive
On Wednesday 9th June 2021 staff from McDonalds were joined by Raunds Mayor, Cllr Sylvia Hughes, Councillor'sand staff for their annual campaign to help in the community as part of their Love Where You Live project. Over 20 volunteers weeded, swept, painted, cleared and generally tidied the London Road Cemetery. Thank you to everyone for their help.




Raunds Town Council Annual Meeting
We are pleased to advise that at our Annual Meeting of the Town Council on 18th May 2021 Councillor Sylvia Hughes was elected Town Mayor for the 2021/22 Civic Year. Cllr Hughes' consort for her Mayoral year will be Cllr Dudley Hughes.. Cllr Hughes is delighted to be elected for a second term and is looking forward to representing Raunds at many events.
At the meeting Cllr Sylvia Hughes was delighted to present Rachel Bott from Family Support Link with a cheque for £3561 that she raise for her chosen charity during her Mayoral year.
Councillor Magdalena Levell was elected as Deputy Mayor.

International Women's Day 2021
The Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Sylvia Hughes hosted a Virtual International Women's Day Event on the 8th March 2021. Raunds Christmas Lights Switch On 2020
The Mayor Cllr Sylvia Hughes and her consort Cllr Dudley Hughes where delighted to switch on the Raunds Town Christmas Lights display this year with a private socially distanced announcement. Due to the unprecedented times the well known Christmas Light Switch on event could not take place, nevertheless the Christmas Lights through out the town looked spectacular.

Raunds Mayors' Charity Christmas Toy Appeal
This years Raunds Mayor's Charity is Family Support Link -FSL. Family Support Link provide free, accessible and non judgmental support to those affected by another's substance misuse throughout Northamptonshire. Their aim is to reduce physical, psychological and emotional harm caused to families and individuals living with or caring for someone who is addicted to drugs and/or alcohol.In our 15th podcast in the series Coping with Covid, Cllr Hughes talks to Rachel Bott, Operational Manager for FSL on how the charity operated before 23rd March and how it has been impacted since. They have also launched their Christmas Toy Appeal for this year and Raunds Town Council are delighted to be a collection point for any donations

Remembrance Sunday 8th November 2020
Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Sylvia Hughes attended the Remembrance Sunday Service held at the War Memorial, St Peter's Church, Raunds. The service was attended only by Councillors, our local MP and representatives from recognised organisations. The short service paid tribute to those that have fought in both World Wars, have served in the armed forces, those that are still serving and families of those that have lost their lives or are still serving. Cllr Sylvia Hughes laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Raunds. Due to the current situation many businesses, groups and organisations were unable to attend and their wreaths were laid on their behalf by Raunds Town Councillors.We also recognise the contributions of those groups, organisation, businesses and individuals who at this difficult time have paid their respects and laid their wreaths privately.
Jackie Coduri's Retirement
On the 30th September 2020 The Mayor of Raunds Cllr Sylvia Hughes attended the retirement of Mrs Jackie Coduri, who was retiring after 11 years' service at Saxon Hall. Cllr Sylvia Hughes gave a thank you speech and wished Jackie all the best in her retirement. Jackie was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and retirement gifts.

Raunds Town Garage Sale 2020
Cllr Sylvia Hughes, Mayor of Raunds and her consort Cllr Dudley Hughes enjoyed visiting the garage sale on the 19th September 2020. What a lovely way to raise much needed funds and enjoy the sunshine whilst staying safe.

Battle of Britain
On Tuesday 15th September Raunds Mayor Cllr Sylvia Hughes was joined by East Northants Council Chairman, Cllr Helen Howell and Rev Jon Aldwinckle to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain.




Boot Camp at Amos Lawrence Playing Fields
Saturday 27th June, Cllr Sylvia Hughes, the Mayor of Raunds was delighted to meet Rochelle Clark MBE and former England Rugby Player who has recently started boot camps at Amos Lawrence Playing Field. It was great to talk to some of the people who had taken part in the session and hear how the sessions boost their physical and mental wellbeing.
Whether it's bootcamp or a gentle stroll, our parks and open spaces are a great place to boost your wellbeing.
(Boot camps are currently limited to 5 attendees and social distancing is maintained throughout)

Armed Forces Day 27th June 2020
Whilst social distancing measures meant that we were unable to invite the public and guests to join us this year, Cllr Sylvia Hughes the Mayor of Raunds marked the occasion by raising the Armed Forces flag at the Town Hall. Raunds Saturday Market
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Sylvia Hughes visited the Raunds Saturday Market on the 20th June 2020 which was a great success. There was a fabulous range of stalls selling everything from glasswear, handmade baby blankets and wooden gifts from Artlenock Artisitry. Beautifully handmade cards and books were also available on Sandra's stall. Green Kitchen Preserves had a mouthwatering range of chutneys jams and pickles. As well our regular stall holders, Blue Surf Pod, Adams Apple and J L Cake Creations, there were new stalls Paws of Raunds selling pet food and treats. Plus Herbalife and The Refill Van with a great variety of environmentally friendly products for you to fill one of your own bottles or purchase a reusable bottle which you can just keep filling! You could also speak to Barry about your bills on the Utility Warehouse stall.




Reopening of High Street Shops in Raunds
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Sylvia Hughes visited some of shops in the town to speak to them about how they have implemented the requirements that allows them to open and for members of public to once again visit the High Street to shop.








100th Birthday Celebrations
Cllr Sylvia Hughes, Mayor of Raunds joins 100th birthday celebrations for Raunds resident Mrs Margaret Tirebuck.
Cllr Sylvia Hughes was delighted to meet Margaret Tirebuck on Sunday 7th June 2020. Mrs Tirebuck pictured below was thrilled to receive a message from Her Majesty the Queen. Although lockdown restrictions meant Mrs Tirebuck wasn't able to have quite the family celebration that had been planned, she was able to enjoy the day with her close family and a visit from the Mayor. (All within social distancing guidelines of course!)
Margaret has 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, and those family members who weren't able to share her special day sent messages to help make her day memorable.
Cllr Hughes said "it was lovely to meet Margaret on her 100th Birthday, it is remarkable that having lived through so many changes to our lives, that Margaret now celebrates her 100th birthday in these unprecedented times".
"I wish her good health and hope she is able to spend time celebrating with her whole family as soon as possible"

Flag raising for Commonwealth Day
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell was joined on the steps of the Town Hall on Monday 9th March 2020 by fellow Councillors, staff and students from Manor School, St Peters School, Windmill Primary and Park Infants School. During the short service Cllr Richard Levell read a message from the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, The Right Honorable Patricia Scotland QC followed by Deputy Mayor, Cllr Wilkes read a message from Her Majesty the Queen. Raunds Town Clerk concluded proceedings with the reading of The Commonwealth Affirmation whilst the flag was raised

Huntingdon Shrove Tuesday "Flipathon"
The Mayor represented Raunds at the pancake race meeting held in Huntingdon town square on the 25th February 2020. Cllr Richard Levell was pleased to win the Mayors' race, holding off fierce competition from the Mayor of St Ives, who is young enough to be his son.

Huntingdon Masquerade Ball
The Mayor and Mayoress where happy to support the Mayor of Huntingdon at this charity ball, held in the magnificent surroundings of Huntingdon Town Hall on the 15th February 2020.

Daventry District Civic Service
On the 2nd February 2020 the Mayor and Mayoress were pleased to support the Chairman of Daventry District at his civic service, which was held in Weedon Bec. Refreshments were served afterwards in "The Depot", an army depot dating from the seventeenth century, and now in process of restoration.

Holocaust Memorial Service in Huntingdon and Peterborough
The Mayor was pleased to support the Chairman of Huntingdonshire District at this short service in Pathfinder House. Candles were lit and hymns were sung.
The Mayor was also pleased to support the Mayor of Peterborough at this service in the parish church in Cathedral Square. It included readings and personal testimony from about a dozen people, many of whom were young, and including a refugee from Syria. This was followed by the Mayor laying a wreath at the Holocaust memorial tablet in the church grounds. The proceedings were reported on by TV news on both the BBC and ITV.
Both Services took place on the 27th January 2020.


Mayor of Raunds Charity Burns Night Dinner
On the 25th January 2020 the Mayor hosted his Burns Night Charity Dinner at The Snooks in Raunds. The event attracted over 100 guests and raised £2,500 for Prostate Cancer UK and Parkinson's UK. In addition to 40 chains and their consorts attending, more than 50 people from Raunds were present.

The Mayor and Mayoress were delighted to support the Mayor of Peterborough on his charity curry night, held on the 26th November 2019 in the Bombay Brasserie near Peterborough city centre.

Christmas Market and Lights Switch On In Raunds
24th November 2019, The Mayor Cllr Richard Levell accompanied Santa on his sleigh in the parade and enjoyed chatting to visitors and stall holders around the busy market square. Another great event for our community raising £1,241 for the Mayor's charities - Prostate Cancer UK and Parkinson's UK. Thank you to everyone for your support and kind donations.




Mayor of Kettering Civic Ball
The Mayor and Mayoress attended the Mayor of Kettering Civic Ball on the 15th November 2019 and were pleased to support the Mayor of Kettering, Keli Watts, and her chosen charity - The British Heart Foundation.

Veterans’ Day service, Maddingley
11th November 2019, the Mayor Cllr Richard Levell laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Raunds at the wall of the missing in action from the USAF in WWII at the USAF memorial at Maddingley, Cambridge. Seven US veterans from WWII attended, aged between 94 and 103.

Long Service event for Ashfield House staff
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell, attended a Long Service event at Ashfield House on Friday 4th October where 9 members of staff were presented with a certificate and flowers for their l service of 15 years at the home.









Mayor of Raunds Charity Quiz
On the 3rd October 2019, 132 people supported this charity event and £1,500 was raised for Prostate Cancer UK and Parkinson's UK charities. Financial assistance was given by Raunds Co-op and the prizes were sponsored by Cllr Greenwood-Smith. It was a great advert for Raunds.




Official opening of new shop in Raunds
On Friday 26th July 2019 Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Richard Levell was kindly asked to officially open the latest addition to the town, Mercy in Action. Located on The Square, the charity boutique is the second of its kind and is a welcome addition to the town.

Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration for the mayoral year of Councillor Richard Levell
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell held his Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration of his mayoral year on Sunday 7th April 2019 at St Peters Church. Mayors and Chairs from all over the County joined Cllr Levell for his service dedicated to the Raunds community and the great work done by its many volunteers and dedicated workers.
Cllr Levell presented Citizens Awards to local people that were nominated for the good work they do.
Volunteers for Raunds Town Council Film and Coffee Afternoons

Each month Raunds Town Council runs coffee and film afternoons, the afternoons are open to all, but target those who may otherwise be socially isolated. The afternoons often attract over 150 visitors. These wonderful volunteers give their time to arrange and serve refreshments, without their help running these afternoons would be a hard (if not impossible) task and we really appreciate the time and effort they give to help make the afternoons a success.

Nominator – Staff at Raunds Town Council
Derek approached the town council to volunteer to litter pick, for the last year Derek has worked hard to keep an area of the town clear of litter. He is always happy and positive in everything he does. Derek has also supported our Christmas Lights Switch-On by "standing in for" a very important person in our grotto.
NOTE – Unfortunately Derek was unable to attend the service.
Volunteer Befriender

Nominator: Cheryl Smith – Nene Valley Community Action
David is a volunteer befriender for Nene Valley Community Action, visiting frail and lonely people in their own homes, he visits 2 residents in Raunds, making a real difference to them. Families of those he visits call him a "real diamond." NVCA say they are proud to have him amongst their volunteers.

Margaret, or Mrs Talbot as she is known in school has been helping with reading at Raunds Park Infants for many years. At least three times a week she will come into school to help children with their reading. Mr Bosworth says "Margaret is so much more than a reading helper to us, she is a pillar of our school community and a vital cog in the running of our school.

For many years Graham has been a leading light in the Raunds and District History Society and was heavily involved in arranging the Ada Salter Day held in August this year.
Graham was also the publisher of the book telling the story of the bootmakers march of 1905.

Along with Graham Underwood Eddie has been a very active member in the Raunds and District History Society and was heavily involved in arranging the Ada Salter Day held in August this year.
Eddie also chaired the original Vision for Raunds Steering Group and has supported the community in many ways, including being a volunteer flood warden, volunteering for the library to you service and supporting the prescription delivery service in Raunds.

Contribution to Different Direction Choir and Raunds Ukulele Orchestra

Nominator: Darlene and Terry Hart
Chris is the founder of Different Direction Choir and Raunds Ukulele Orchestra. Different Direction Choir was formed to take part in a competition in support of Cransley Hospice, the group won and the choir continued. Both the choir and orchestra are based on having fun while learning.
Chris's hard work and dedication culminated this year when the Choir were invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.
Darlene and Terry say "participation in Chris's groups has enhanced our retirement, music is great exercise for the brain and lifts the spirits-Chris is a great ambassador for the town"

Elouise says "Sarah gives up most of her free time to help us Brownies, each week she prepares an hour and half of fun for us. She also gives up weekends and holidays, so that we can go on trip and have fun!"

Nominator: Susan Copperwheat
Rachel and Michael have been members of the History Society, without them it would not be the success it is. In particular the "Rance Re-viewed" magazine is a project they have worked on for some time, which I'm sure many of us have read. This magazine has been sent worldwide keeping former residents connected.

Nominator: Lisa Jeffery – Head of Raunds Park Infants
Richard Bosworth has given a lot of extra time in his role as a classroom teacher, since coming to the school as a newly qualified teacher Richard has inspired children to take part in competitive sports, on many occasions he has led teams to victory, our trophy cabinet is heaving!
Importantly participation levels in sport have increased across the school and Richard continually encourages children to be more active.
Richard also leads the school choir and supports children performing at many events in the town.

Contribution to– the community and St Peter's Academy
Nominee: Graham Hanson
Nominator: The staff of St Peter's Academy Raunds.
Since 2005 Graham has kept the school smart well maintained and safe. He is popular with all the pupils that have passed through the school. Graham has always gone above and beyond his job, playing guitar in assemblies and helping to run the friends of St Peter's. He is truly one of the unsung heroes in our school community.

Contribution to– Youth Work through Raunds Community Church
Nominee: Liz Harris and her team, Chris and Clare Evans, Roger Willetts, Julia Gradwell and Shane Rouse
Nominator: Carolyn Tomkins
Liz, along with her team has been leading youth work in Raunds for over 20 years, work includes "The Edge" youth club running every Friday evening in the town, a summer holiday club, projects targeted specifically at young girls or boys and many other initiatives including an annual family fun day in the town.
Their work makes a real difference to the community.

Nominator: Kate Dawson
A former naval officer, John set up the TS Collingwood group for young people aged 7-18. Johns meticulous approach meant young people learnt a wide range of skills including Morse Code map reading, sign language and many others. He has taken the group on a number of visits including to HMS Belfast & Bletchley Park.
Sadly in 2019 the unit closed but funds from the group have been donated to various local causes, including the donation of a memorial bench, which will be unveiled after this service.
After the service a delicious buffet supplied by Jester's was served in the St Peters Enterprise Centre.

The Mayor's Special Awards went to..
Rob Angus is very much the unsung hero at Town Council and other events in Raunds. He is a stalwart volunteer appearing at the start of the event set-up and staying around helping during the day until the end of the clear down. In addition, he spent the best part of a week manning the World War One exhibition.
Mike Clements is well known in the town, having served as Mayor three times and having organised the poppy appeal for more than a decade. Last November an exhibition was put together and staged in the Methodist Church. It was about the life of and the people in Raunds during the First World War, both at the front and at home. It was a huge success attended by many people who were moved by the stories that it portrayed. An enormous amount of work went into it and I should like the person behind it to receive the recognition he deserves for conceiving, creating and managing this wonderful event. It was a magnificent highlight in the town's year.

Following the service, Cllr Levell unveiled a stunning new bench in the Memorial Gardens which has been donated by John Andrew and T S Collingwood, Raunds division. The bench is a beautiful asset to the gardens which will hopefully be enjoyed by many.

Over £700 raised for Stroke Association at the Mayor of Raunds Burns Night celebration
Cllr Richard Levell, Mayor of Raunds celebrated Burns Night in style on Saturday 26th January at Jester's Bistro Raunds.
Joined by the Mayoress, Mrs Magdalena Levell, the Mayor welcomed local residents, visiting Mayors and other guests. The guests enjoyed a Burns Night Supper and the customary traditions, while raising funds for the Stroke Association, which is the Mayor's chosen Charity for 2018-19.
Cllr Levell said, "My thanks to all those who attended and helped to raise over £700 for the Stroke Association. It was a great evening enjoyed by all. Particular thanks must go to Jester's Bistro for hosting the event and providing us with a splendid haggis supper".
As well as raising funds for the Stroke Association, over £150 was raised to assist students from Manor School who are going on a school trip to Ecuador, where they will volunteer to help improve the lives of local people as well as develop life-changing personal skills. The young people (pictured) ran a raffle and waited on tables during the evening.

May-or I help you??
On 28th September Cllr Richard Levell swapped his Mayoral chain for an apron and took part in the Biggest Coffee Morning at Jester's Bistro in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. Cllr Levell waited on tables at the busy bistro for the morning where they raised over £350 in memory of chef Daniel Webster who died of cancer in January aged just 25.


Charity Wine Tasting Evening
On Saturday 22nd September, Cllr Levell hosted his Charity Wine Tasting evening at the Saxon Hall in aid of his chosen charity The Stroke Association. Guest were tested on their knowledge of wine whilst being served by students from Manor School who helped for the evening to raise funds for their trip to Ecuador.



71st Birthday of the USAF
On 21st September Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell and his consort, Magdalena Levell were honoured to represent Raunds in celebrating the 71st Birthday of the United States Air Force. They joined the servicemen and women from 501st Combat Support Wing in the UK, and host for the evening Colonel Ron Cheatham.


Ashfield House celebrates 10th Anniversary
On Wednesday 5th September 2018 Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell was invited to Ashfield House's 10th Anniversary. The afternoon included a buffet lunch, live music and a look back over the past 10 years. 13 members of staff received certificates for 10 years service which show the dedication they have and what a great and rewarding place it is to work.



Supporting MacMillan Coffee Day
On Friday 6th July, Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Richard Levell visited Mary and Terry Frisby of Langham Road at their MacMillan cake and coffee day. Mr and Mrs Frisby have been holding coffee and cake days in support of MacMillan for the past 3 years and have raised almost £1000 for the worthy charity. The couple received donations of bric-a-brac from local residents to sell at their coffee day and Mary spent hours baking delicious cakes. Terry said 'We both think that the MacMillan nurses do a fantastic job and we are more than happy to give our time up if it makes some money in order that they can help families through very difficult times.'


Weekend of Local Support
Saturday 9th June was a busy day for Cllr Richard Levell and his consort. In the morning they had their car washed by the staff and pupils at Windmill Primary School, together with members of the Police and Fire Brigade. The money raised was shared between Windmill School and the Fire Brigade's Charity. The highlight was one 5-year old, part of the car polishing squad, jumping up at the window to dab it with a cloth. Such enthusiasm! In the early afternoon, Cllr Levell opened the new all-weather play area and log cabin at Playmates Pre-School. More than 50 staff, parents and supporters attended to take advantage of the fine weather, the BBQ and the stalls, and watch the toddlers use the new play equipment. The new amenities were made available as a result of much hard work fundraising by staff, parents and friends, so well done to all. In the evening, Cllr and Magdalena Levell went to the Raunds Town Youth Football Club to present participation and achievement prizes to 7 teams aged 5 to 15. The function room at the Football Club was overflowing with the families and supporters of the players - youth football in Raunds is certainly alive and kicking!

Sing-a-long on the Square
The Mayor, Councillor Richard Levell and the Mayoress, Magdalena Levell, together with the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Lee Wilkes, and Councillor Helen Howell joined the Raunds Community Choir for their "singalong" on Tuesday evening. The Choir braved the elements and sang in the new covered seating/performing arts area in the Town Square, entertaining passers-by for nearly an hour. Anyone interested in joining the Choir should contact 01933 741 062.

Back to school!!
On Friday 18th May Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell, visited 3 schools in Raunds to introduce himself and meet the principle, staff and pupils.
He spent the morning at St Peters and Park Infants where they gave him a tour of their schools and he was able to see some of the great work they do.
In the afternoon he attended Windmill Schools Green Flag Ceremony. Windmill Primary set up an Eco-Committee of children of all ages to participate in the national Eco-Schools project. They have achieved Green Flag status, which is the equivalent of a gold standard.

Raunds Film Afternoon
On Wednesday 16th May Raunds Town Council hosted our monthly film afternoon at Saxon Hall. Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell opened proceedings by welcoming over 80 guests. Now in its 10th month its popularity is growing and as well as its regular film-goers we are seeing new-comers every month. Amongst our screenings we have shown great films such as :- Florence Foster Jenkins, Hope Springs, Young Victoria, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Calendar Girls, Victoria and Abdul and Their Finest. June's film is set to be the most popular yet and we welcome everyone along to watch and enjoy the recent phenomenon that is The Greatest Showman. On Tuesday 15th May Raunds Mayor, Cllr Levell and his consort attended the Rushden Town Council Mayor Making ceremony. Cllr Levell is pictured with his consort Magdalena Levell, Rushden Mayor Cllr David Coleman and his consort Cllr Melanie Coleman.

First official engagement
On Sunday 13th May Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell and his consort attended their first official joint engagement at the Indian Brasserie in Northampton for the Chairman of Northamptonshire County Council Cllr Dudley Hughes and Cllr Sylvia Hughes 'End of Term' dinner.

New covered seating area opened
On May 10th Representatives from East Northamptonshire Council presented Cllr Levell with a plaque to recognise the funding received for the project.

Raunds Annual Town Assembly
On Thursday 26th April 2018 Raunds Town Council hosted its Annual Town Assembly. The Town Assembly is an opportunity for local groups, businesses and organisations to showcase what they have accomplished over the last year. This years event saw amazing support from local residents as over 100 people joined Raunds Mayor, Cllr Nick Beck as he reported on his Mayoral year whilst fellow Councillors were available to answer questions on their Committee's achievements over the last year.
Amongst the exhibitions were 2nd Raunds Scout Group, Raunds Community Church, Raunds District Girl guiding, Raunds Community Choir, Royal British Legion, Friends of the Library, 1st Raunds Brownies, Manor School Zanzibar Trip, Park Infant School, Windmill Junior School, St Peters C of E School, Raunds Library Management Group, Jamie Poole Art Classes, First Responders and Raunds Round Up.
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Nick Beck also chose the evening to present his Civic Awards. These awards were presented to deserving people of whom had been nominated by a member of the public. Details of the Civic Award winners can be found here.
The evening was finished off with music from Manor School while guests enjoyed refreshments and Hog Roast on the terrace.

On Saturday 21st April, Deputy Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell and his consort Magdalena Levell visited Ashfield House care home in support of their celebration of the Queen's birthday.
Burn's Night
Raunds Mayor, Cllr Nick Beck held a Burn's Night at The Snooks on Friday 26th January. The evening was filled with songs and recitals from actor Michael Nardone accompanied by a Piper. During the traditional Scottish meal the Mayor 'Addressed the Haggis' and joined in a tuneful rendition of Auld Lang Syne.


A close shave for charity
On Wednesday 17th January 2018 Raunds Mayor, Cllr Nick Beck was invited to Manor School to witness English teacher Mr Guest and Principle Mr Davenport have their heads shaved to help raise money for the upcoming school trips to Zanzibar and Ecuador. Click here for more on this story

When the Beavers met the Mayor
On Friday 8th December 2017 the Mayor, Cllr Nick Beck met the 2nd Raunds Beavers. They came to the Town Hall, as they have been working towards one of their challenge badges. In order for them to complete it, they needed to speak to somebody within the community and find out a little about what they do.

On Friday 10th November, Deputy Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell and his consort Magdalena Levell attended the Veterans Day Service at Madingley Cemetery. The annual ceremony is held to honour and thank all military personnel who served for the United States in all wars.

On Friday 10th November, Raunds Mayor was pleased to present Raunds Park Infant School with this years Summer Reading Challenge shield. Well done to all the children that took part.

On Friday 6th of October, The Mayor and Mayoress attended Park Infants School Raunds for their Celebration Assembly.
"It was great to see how many of the students received achievement awards. It was also amazing to see how the reception classes had already settled in really well with this new chapter. I look forward to attending more events in the near future." - Cllr Nick Beck, Mayor.
On Monday 2nd of October, The Mayor and Mayoress attended St Peter's School Raunds to talk to the students. This year the school are electing pupils to sit on a new school council.

On Sunday 1st of October Cllr Nick Beck attended the Civic Service for Rushden Mayor Cllr Barbara Jenney.

On Friday 29th of September the Mayor attended Jesters Macmillan Coffee Morning.

In the afternoon, the Mayor attended St Peter's School in Raunds to open their brand new 'Peace Garden'.
"It was a fantastic opportunity to meet with the teachers and pupils and I was also given a guided tour by Head Boy and Head Girl. Thank you to them. Mrs Folkard explained to me the idea of the garden as being a quiet place for the students to sit and take time to reflect .Everyone involved has worked extremely hard on this and it was a pleasure to attend and be part of this afternoon." - Cllr Nick Beck, Mayor
On Thursday 21st of September The Mayor and Mayoress attended The Annual Reception at RAF Alconbury. This was an official ceremony welcoming the new Base Commander. In attendance were many dignitaries from Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and further afield.
On Wednesday 20th of September Cllr Beck opened the Council Chamber for some very special guests. 1st Raunds Methodist Brownies came along for a tour and a Q&A session with the Mayor and the Mayoress. Cllr Beck said he was amazed at some of the questions asked which clearly highlighted to me how engaged young people really are in our community.

On Saturday 30th of September the Mayor, along with many other volunteers and councillors attended the, now biannual, litter pick (which this year included daffodil planting).

On Monday 18th of September The Mayoress and I attended a charity meal in Kettering held by The Mayor of Kettering. It was a great evening with lots of money raised for Cllr Edwards' chosen charities.
On the 14th July Cllr Beck joined residents of Langham Road for tea and cake at their MacMillan Coffee Morning organised by Terry and Mary Frisby. They raised £402 and were extremely pleased with the support from the people of Raunds.

It was Afternoon Tea at 3 on 16th June at local care home Ashfield House. I enjoyed meeting and talking to the residents as part of the nationwide #CHOD2017

On Saturday 10th June, The Mayoress and I attended a farewell party at The Woodpecker. This was the "Going away "for the Durham's. They were here living in Raunds for the past three years as serving members of the US military.
It was a fantastic afternoon with a live band and some fantastic food supplied by the kitchen. Well recommended.
I'm sure you all may have seen my live performance, getting up on stage singing Johnny Be Goode with the band. All I can say is, at least I enjoyed it, although I'm not too sure about the audience though.
The Mayoress and I would like to thank the Durham's, Will, Annalise and their son Joel (who attended Stanwick School while here) for letting us be a part of their day. We wish those safe travels and a very happy future. Please do come back and visit us here in Raunds soon.
On Wednesday 24th May, The Mayoress and I attended Windmill Primary School for lunch. This was a multi course lunch with various dishes to try. I must say, it was amazing. The children had created everything from scratch. They had costed everything, drawn up the menu and served us all on the afternoon. The customer paid what they felt was due. This event ran over the remainder of the week. The winner was the group who managed to make most profit. Well done to Coggins Class. Well done everybody though. It was a great afternoon. I enjoyed speaking and getting to know Mr Coleman (head teacher). Most of all though, it was great chatting to the children. I look forward to many more visits during my term in office.

On the 15th May Cllr Beck joined his counterpart, Cllr Peter Tomas, at Higham Ferrers Town Council where he was guest at the Mayor Making Ceremony.
On Friday 12th May, Cllr Howell and I attending the opening of the new Pretty Little Things shop. Originally Gifts Made For You. It's great to see new ventures popping up in our town centre. There was a great show of support and I wish them all great success in the future.

I jumped straight in to my Mayoral duties by officially opening the newly refurbished McDonalds on London Road, Raunds on the 10th May. I spoke to franchisee Perry Aktar and got an insight into the great work that McDonalds does in the community and the support it offers to its staff during their education. I was really impressed with the new look restaurant and the option of table service as well as the self service stations.

Raunds Mayor's Show 2017
This year Raunds Mayor, Cllr Helen Howell, will be hosting The Mayor's Show for the second year in aid of the Air ambulance which will be held at Bassfords Recreation Ground, Marshalls Road, Raunds (The Rec) on Sunday 30th April 2017 from 12 - 5pm.
The aim of the event is to try and bring a country show to Raunds. There will be rides, attractions, a cake baking competition, a variety of stalls, a stage and arena with demonstrations and live entertainment throughout the day, as well as fun and games for children to enter.
Cllr Helen Howell, Mayor of Raunds said " Last year's show was a great success and enjoyed by everyone who attended. This year we hope to make the event bigger and better with this great opportunity to bring the community together over this bank holiday weekend whilst raising money for a very worthy charity. I hope the residents of Raunds and surrounding towns and villages will show their support for this event by coming out and enjoying themselves".

Raunds Mayor's Citizens Awards 2017

Raunds Mayor, Cllr Helen Howell held her Civic Service on Sunday 19th March at St Peters Church. Mayors and Chairs from all over the County joined Cllr Howell for her service dedicated to the Raunds community and the great work done by its many volunteers and dedicated workers. This year Raunds Mayor presented Citizens Awards to local people that were nominated for the good work they do. Awards went to Michael and Ben Nardone in thanks for their time, dedication and performance at the Mayor's fundraising events, Suzanne Porter in recognition of Library Support and Services to the Community, Geoff Dyne in recognition of his organisation of the Warth Park Opposition Group & Community Spirit, Peggy Day in recognition of Services to the Youth of Raunds, Karen Seamarks in recognition of Caring provided to her daughter Alexis, Richard Haseldine in recognition of his service and dedication to St John Ambulance and the community, Tracey Barker in thanks for her excellent performances in support of the Raunds Mayor and Shelly Bates in recognition of her contribution in supporting the Mayor in fund raising events After the service a delicious buffet supplied by Jester's was served in the St Peters Enterprise Centre. Raunds Mayor's Show 2016

Raunds Town Council are pleased to announce that at their Annual Town Meeting held on Thursday 10th May 2016, Cllr Helen Howell was elected as Mayor for for a second term. Her consort will be Cllr Lee Wilkes. Cllr Nick Beck was elected as Deputy Mayor for the coming year and his consort will be Mrs Nicola Beck.
As part of my role as Mayor I have chosen to support The Air Ambulance. This charity is very close to my heart as a First Responder myself I know what a vital lifesaving service this is. Please visit my events page and come along and support me in aid of the The Air Ambulance Service.
