Official Opening of Ada Salter Spinney Saturday 11th August 2018

The official opening of the "Ada Salter Spinney" Spinney Hill, Raunds takes place on Saturday 11th August at 12pm. Local residents are invited to see how the addition of a garden, further seating and the relaying of the path have transformed this open space in the heart of the town.

The garden is a memorial to Ada Salter, a former resident of Raunds who became the first female Mayor of a London Borough and championed beautician of open spaces.

The Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Richard Levell will open the garden and is being joined by the Mayor of Southwark, where Ada was Mayor of Bermondsey in 1922.

Later that afternoon members of the public are also invited to an exhibition on the life of Ada Salter. The exhibition has been created by Raunds History Society and will be open from 3pm-4.30pm at Saxon Hall, Raunds.
