Raunds Town Council Awards Grant to East Northants Community Responders

Raunds Town Council Awards Grant to East Northants Community Responders

The Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Richard Levell was delighted to hand over a cheque for £1,000 to East Northants Community Responders. The grant will be put towards the cost of life saving equipment for the local area.

East Northants Community First Responders are volunteers who live in the local community. They are trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service to attend 999 calls prior to an Ambulance arriving. The volunteers provide life-saving care, until other emergency services arrive on scene.

The group initially applied for a grant of £500, which equates to 50% of the cost of a defibrillator. However given the importance of this life-saving equipment Raunds Town Council decided to award a grant of £1,000.

Raunds Mayor, Cllr Richard Levell said "I was delighted to hand over the cheque for the grant. The Community First Responders provide an amazing service in our Town. Their work really does save lives. We have a great relationship with the local team who provide first aid cover for all our events in the Town. We have also worked with the First Responders to offer free first aid training to the local community, and in 2019 almost 100 people were trained in the use of defibrillators".

Tom Hatton of East Northants Community First Responders said Words can't explain how grateful we are for this grant of £1000, with the unfortunate truth that the equipment purchased from it will most certainly be used; thank you! On behalf of the East Northants First Responders, thank you again for your support in our mission within the local community.
