Serving the people of Raunds

Mayor's Civic Service 2023

Mayor's Civic Service 2023

The Mayor of Raunds, Councillor Richard Levell, held his Civic Service on Sunday 26 March at St Peter's Church. The celebration of the 2022/23 Mayoral year provided a timely opportunity to recognise and thank local individuals and organisations for all their dedicated work in the community.

A Parade from the Town Square to the Church was led by the harmonious sounds of locally based piper, Michelle Jewell and drummer Finlay Jewell, followed by Vice Lord-Lieutenant Morcea Walker MBE, the Mayor and Mayor's Consort, the Deputy Mayor, Tom Pursglove MP, the Town Clerk and Councillors of Raunds Town Council and North Northamptonshire Council. Also joining the parade were visiting Mayors and Dignitaries, representatives/chairs of local organisations and representatives from the Royal British Legion, Raunds Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides. It was gratifying to see many residents of the town lining the streets to watch.

The Church service, led by Archdeacon Alison Brooker, included performances by Raunds Community Choir and Different Direction Choir. Recipients of this year's Civic Awards were also presented with their certificates, with proud family members and friends in attendance.

A retiring collection in aid of St Peter's Church and the Mayor's nominated charities, East Northants First Responders and Raunds Foodbank, raised just over £400 in total.

The Service was an uplifting occasion, and the Mayor wishes to thank everyone involved.
