Mayor of Raunds presents Coronation coins to local schoolchildren

A special commemorative coin is being gifted by Raunds Town Council to all nursery, primary and secondary pupils in Raunds to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

The coin, bearing the Coronation emblem on one side and King Charles III on the other, was specially commissioned by the Council's Events Committee to mark this significant historic occasion. The Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Richard Levell, delivered the coins to nursery and primary school children on Friday 5 May 2023, including St Peter's C.E. Academy, Raunds Park Infant School, Raunds Playgroup, Windmill Primary School and Playmates. Manor School pupils will receive the remaining delivery of coins this week.

The schools and their pupils were most appreciative of the gesture and acknowledged that this would supplement pupils' interest in learning about the Coronation, as well as providing a unique and lasting memento to treasure.

The Mayor of Raunds, Cllr Richard Levell, said "I was privileged to present the commemorative coins to Raunds schoolchildren and am delighted that they now have a lasting keepsake from this historic year. I thank the children and staff from all of the schools and nurseries I visited for the warm welcome I received".

Cllr Magdalena Levell, Chairman of Raunds Town Council Events Committee, said "We hope that all Raunds schoolchildren enjoyed receiving their commemorative coins and we now look forward to seeing lots of happy young faces at our Coronation themed Mayor's Show on Sunday 21 May".
