Christmas Market Event Cancelled

It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of today's Christmas Market and programme of entertainment due to safety concerns. This decision was not made lightly, and we share in the disappointment this will cause for the community, our vendors, and the performers who were set to bring festive cheer to our town.

While we had hoped to proceed with today's festivities, stronger-than-forecasted winds have created conditions that make it impossible to safely erect and secure the temporary structures required for the market and entertainment areas. The safety of our residents, visitors, and participants must always remain our top priority.

Councillor Paul Byrne, Mayor of Raunds, expressed his deep regret, stating:

"Cancelling today's Christmas Market and entertainment programme was an incredibly difficult decision, but the safety of our community must always come first. I want to thank everyone for their understanding and support. We appreciate the hard work of all the vendors, performers, and volunteers who were ready to make today a memorable event. While this is undoubtedly disappointing, we look forward to celebrating together in other ways this festive season."

Although the market and entertainment cannot proceed, we can confirm that the Christmas lights will be switched on at 6:00 pm as planned. Everyone is invited to gather on the Town Square to witness the start of the festive season.
